by Clive Young. You can learn a lot about a month simply by looking at the Twitter posts ("tweets") that got made throughout the course of it. Take our April 2010 Pro Sound News tweets: The first few were links to goofy fake April Fool's Day articles covering everything from Lectrosonics
to Kanye West. Next up were a rash of links to Pro Audio apps for Apple's iPad, which was introduced the first weekend of the month. By the time we
mentioned FOH engineer Robert Scovill's blog
about Tom Petty tour rehearsals, you knew it was getting towards shed
season. And in between, there was ephemera ranging from NAMM and AES
trade show announcements, to the 'I can't look away' violent destruction of an aged DDA Q-Series monitor desk. All of which means you should follow us on Twitter at @ProSoundNews
-- clearly our Twitter feed ain't just headlines. To wit, here's most
of our April tweets, minus the links to daily news stories on prosoundnews.com.

By Clive Young. While we use Twitter to announce when PSN's daily news headlines are
live at the website, that’s just the beginning. We also point you to
cool pro audio stuff around the web; give you up-to-the-second news
reports from events like AES and NAMM; look for potential interviewees
for articles (if you want to get into the pages of PSN, this is a great ‘in’); chat a bit and, heaven forbid, even crack the occasional joke. We
still bring you breaking pro audio news every day, but we're not above
posting a photo link to a cat hilariously sprawled across the capstans
of an old Studer tape machine. To give you an idea of what we’re talking about, here’s a sampling
of “tweets” starting in mid-January (minus the daily headlines),
presenting the good, bad and just plain weird.

by Christopher Walsh. The console’s evolution toward a smaller
footprint and DAW integration fits with the trend toward personal
studio environments. But commercial studios are also taking to
small-format consoles, often for the same reasons private studio owners
have done so.

by Clive Young. New York (December 9, 2008)--Ask any rock star lying
in the gutter and he/she/it will tell you: New York City is the home of
Rock. Cleveland may be where the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame resides,
but NYC is practically a Rock Museum by the sheer fact of its existence.

By Frank Wells. It is a disappointing, if unsurprising,
development. As you likely know, from this month's cover story if not
before, the FCC has approved unlicensed low-power consumer devices
(WSDs, or White Space Devices) for operation in the areas of the
broadcast television spectrum not lost to recent auctions and public
service reassignment. Even the most hopeful of potential outcomes will
mean less resources available for the operation of wireless microphone
and communication devices, challenging the current application of
conventional wireless technologies for major events and in crowded
markets.
