How To Get In The Soundcheck Chart

 Permanent link
by Clive Young.

Every so often, I get a call from someone asking how he can get listed in the Soundcheck chart in Pro Sound News. For those who haven’t seen it before, every month, Soundcheck lists 15 different gigs recently tackled by 15 different regional and local sound companies, listing crew names, some of the gear that was used and so on. The chart itself is a high-profile thing, because while PSN often highlights national audio providers, the chart brings to light the hard-working crews and companies working on the local level every month, and I’ve often heard about outfits that picked up gigs because they were spotted in Soundcheck.

So today was one of those days where I got a phone call about the chart:

“How do I get in Soundcheck?”
Just send in the info, like it says at the bottom of the page.
“No, really--how do I get in it?”
Really, you send in the info.
“But some SR companies are in there nearly every month.”
Sure, they send in all the time--made it part of their routine.
“So I don’t have to send you a cheese log at Christmas or something?”
I don’t eat cheese or logs. Just send in the info. Honest.

And now it's your turn--if you want to get into Soundcheck, just send me info about your gig, using the handy list below:

Act / Event's Name
Sound Company Name
Town where sound company is based
Venue name and venue town

House engineer:
Band engineer:
Monitor engineer:
Band monitor engineer:
System engineer:
Assistant engineer:
Techs:

House console:
Monitor console:
House speakers:
Monitor speakers or personal monitor systems:
House amplifiers:
Monitor amplifiers:

We usually run entries on a first-in-the-door basis, and multiple submissions are fine; we only run one per sound company per month, but I hold on to extras for the future, just in case.

The most important thing? Where to send the info:

Cyoung AT (meaning @) nbmedia.com

Send in anytime; my email is standing by.
