New York, NY (May 25, 2005)--Rich Macar, chief engineer and owner of Buttons New York, will be featured on the DVD release of I Was a Zombie for the FBI. Originally released 23 years ago in black and white, the film is being re-released on DVD with special features including an interview with Macar and the movie's producer discussing the transition to surround sound and the audio design and mix.

Macar speaks about the process in switching from mono to surround sound on the new release and provides examples of the sound work, before and after. "The release of this film on DVD will give viewers an education in audio advancements over the last 20 years," said Macar, who took the original sound and mixed it with new music the director provided from the Extreme Music library. Macar created a surround sound track in 5.1 Dolby Digital and reworked and redesigned all the "alien sounds" in the film. The entire movie, the existing sound and the new effects were mixed and seamlessly merged so it seems as though they were present in the original version.

In other Buttons news, Helena Christensen graced the studio to record voice elements for the Sony Ericsson website and telephone network in Europe. The supermodel is transitioning to a career in photography and has been commissioned to use Sony Ericsson's camera phone to shoot picture art. London-based ad agency Iris Nation used Buttons' Padauk suite as a backdrop for an HD shoot of Christensen while Buttons simultaneously recorded her audio. The sound and picture will be used to create picture telephone and internet website messages and greetings.

Buttons was also hired to work on a series of spots for Scott's "Red Ant Killer." Buttons recorded a small library of Scott's spreader sounds in the field specifically for these spots.
