New York, NY (August 16, 2006)--It's always interesting to hear who/what's in session in Avatar's famed Studio A. Last month, the Neve 8068-equipped studio hosted a variety of sessions, including Harry Connick, Jr. recording with producer Tracey Freeman and engineer Vince Caro, assisted by Anthony Ruotolo. String sessions for an upcoming Clay Aiken release were also held in A, engineered by Tom Durack and produced by Adam Anders. And, Christina Aguilera dropped by for a Vibe Magazine photo shoot, which chose Studio A as the backdrop.
string quintet (with Jeremy McCoy on double bass). The CD features acoustic and 6-string electric basses in a variety of musical settings. The album was engineered by Joe Barbaria and mastered by Fred Kevorkian. Recent sessions in Studio B, on its SSL 9000 J console, have included producer/engineer David Bendeth mixing tracks for Pillar, Kevin Killen mixing Amos Lee's upcoming release, being produced by Barrie Maguire, and Shaw doing overdubs and mixing Australian rock band, Mink. Avatar's Studio C hosted recording and mixing sessions for Louise Setara's upcoming release, being produced by Jack McCracken and engineered by Roy Hendrickson, with assistance from Peter Doris. The Neve VRP72-equipped Studio C also welcomed Southside Johnny in, to record with the Labamba Big Band for an upcoming album, with engineer Dan Gralick. And, engineer Neil Dorfsman recorded Metal Messiah in C, working with producer Billy Stein, and Doris as assistant. Bebel Gilberto also recorded in Studio C with Avatar engineer Brian Montgomery. Gilberto's upcoming release is being produced by Roberto "Beco" Dranoff. Jason Corsaro also mixed tracks for the record. Joshua Redman mixed an upcoming release in Studio C, which was actually recorded in Studio A, with engineer James Farber. Finally, in Studio G, Rich Costey mixed upcoming albums for Brand New, Hot Hot Heat, and The View on the studio's SSL 4000 G+ console, with Jim Keller assisting. Avatar Studios www.avatarstudios.net
